The Middle East is a region where car is king and fuel is cheap, frequently leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly ways of walking around.

But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have pressed up the rate of oil, the of finding alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In a region that has among the highest carbon footprints in the world, one service is benefiting from the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's very first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving profitable too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
